In this situation
Answer options
Explanation
You may continue only after the truck has passed. This road is outside a built-up area with a single lane in each direction; the centre line is broken and what lies to your right is not a lane but an unpaved shoulder. The truck ahead has braked and signalled left to turn, and a car is coming the other way, so neither side is open to you. Driving on the shoulder is prohibited even when it looks wide enough: the loose gravel surface suddenly reduces grip, and the shoulder is where pedestrians, cyclists and emergency stops belong — nobody there expects a moving car. The trap is mistaking a wide shoulder for a traffic lane; the shoulder is not part of the carriageway.
