Changing lanes to the adjacent zone in this situation
Answer options
Explanation
You must give way to the drivers travelling in that lane. The rule is simple and admits no exception: when changing lanes, the driver changing lanes must give way to same-direction vehicles travelling in that lane without changing course; and if two vehicles move into the same lane at once, priority goes to the one on the right. In the picture the right indicator is on — the green arrow is visible on the instrument panel — and the silver car is travelling in the right-hand lane, so you do not hold priority: adjust your speed and gap so that the other driver need not brake or swerve, and only then move across. Lane-change collisions almost always begin in the blind spot, and an indicator only announces intent.
