In which picture does the driver of the blue car have the priority right of driving over the other driver?
Answer options
Explanation
In both pictures. In each, the grey car is in the left lane and the blue car in the right, seen from behind; on the left only the grey car is signalling right, on the right the grey signals right and the blue signals left. In the left picture only one vehicle changes lane, and a driver changing lanes must give way to vehicles travelling in that lane without changing direction — so the blue car has priority. In the right picture both change lanes at once and their paths cross, and then priority goes to the vehicle on the right, which again is the blue car. Remember it in two parts: changing lane makes you a guest in someone else's lane, and if both change at once, fall back on the right-hand rule.
