In this situation
Answer options
Explanation
You can pass first. The red triangle on the right is the Steep Ascent sign at 6% — its black line rises from left to right — so you are climbing and the dark car opposite is descending. A tanker with hazard lights on stands in your lane with a warning triangle behind it. Normally an obstruction in your own lane means you must wait for oncoming traffic; but on gradients marked with an ascent or descent sign that rule is reversed and priority belongs to the vehicle going uphill, even when the obstruction is in its lane. Do not confuse this with the same picture without a gradient sign, where the answer is the opposite — and having priority still does not mean pulling out blind.
