A national driving licence in Armenia is issued for 10 years.

The national licence is issued with a validity of 10 years, after which it must be renewed. The reason a fixed term exists lies in the nature of the document itself: a licence is both an authorisation to drive and a photo identity card. A person's photograph and appearance change over the years, a driver's health and eyesight do not stay constant, and the format and security features of the card are updated every few years. If the document were issued with no time limit, the state would have no compulsory point at which to review this data, and cards bearing thirty-year-old photographs would stay in circulation. In practice the figure of 10 balances the administrative burden of renewal against the need to keep the information current.

Memorise this figure of 10 precisely, because in the exam it almost always appears next to the figure 3 (the validity of an international permit) and the "no time limit" option, and those two are the question's main traps. A practical note: the expiry date is printed on the card itself, and driving on an expired licence counts as driving without a valid licence, so check the date before long road trips.
