What vehicle must you give way to if you intend to make a U-turn at an intersection?
Answer options
Explanation
To all vehicles. The red inverted triangle on the post to your right is a Give Way sign facing you, so your road is the minor one and the crossing road is major; the small plate above shows how the major road runs. A U-turn is the heaviest manoeuvre possible at an intersection: the car sweeps the full width of the carriageway, drops to almost zero speed and blocks both the oncoming lane and the crossing road for several seconds. So every duty applies at once — to the yellow truck approaching from the crossing road on the right and to the passenger car seen to the left. Remember: wherever a U-turn combines with a minor road, the answer is almost always all vehicles.
